Meet Midland’s Teachers!


Preschool Teacher Susan Columbo:

Teacher Susan firmly believes that the best way for young children to learn is through play and she strives to provide a varied set of experiences for each child and family. She started with Midland as a parent in 2011 with her daughter and served on the board both years. Susan returned to Midland in the spring of 2016 as a teacher and loves getting to know each child  and to watch them grow.


Parent Educator Candy Chastagner:

Candy has been a parent educator at Midland Preschool for over 25 years. She has a B.S. in Child Development and a Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Studies with an emphasis in Family Life Studies. She teaches the Literature for Children class in the Early Childhood program at Pierce College and is the Early Childhood Coordinator at her church. She is the community representative on the District Curriculum and Instructional Materials Committee in the Sumner School District. She has two grown sons and one granddaughter.


Parent Educator Barb Wenzen:

Barb has been a parent educator at Midland Preschool since 2007. She has an M.A. in Early and Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University, and a B.S. in Dental Hygiene and Health Education. Barb has been involved with the cooperative philosophy of education with her three children through the South Hill Cooperative Preschool and the Puyallup Family Coop in the Puyallup school district. She lives on the South Hill of Puyallup with her husband and three teenaged children.
